A certification document sent by General Motors to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been published on the web. New data has shown real technical parameters of electric Hummer EV. The start of deliveries of the pickup was announced back at the end of last year. However, so far only one model has been handed over to buyers. It turned out that the electric car has not yet passed the final certification, and its characteristics do not fully correspond to those declared by the manufacturer.
The Hummer EV in Edition 1 is equipped with a battery with a nominal capacity of 247 kilowatt-hours. At the same time the actual capacity is 212.7 kilowatt-hours. Thus, the pickup uses only 86 per cent of the capacity. According to the manufacturer, the Hummer EV is capable of travelling 563 kilometres without recharging. In reality, the electric pick-up has a range of 530 kilometres.
The other interesting detail is the mass of the electric car which was noticed by Autoevolution. The predecessor equipped with classical internal combustion engine could weigh 3,175 kilograms, but curb weight of the Hummer EV is 4,100 kilograms. Moreover, the battery of the electric pickup alone weighs 1325 kilograms, which is comparable to the weight of the current Toyota Corolla and Hyundai Elantra.
In July of the last year, representatives of General Motors told why they have deprived Hummer EV of removable doors. The concern’s specialists said that such doors do not combine with the luxurious interior.
